From our friends at THIS, Los Angeles
“Last night towards the end of our These Friends opening (after the crowds had left and we were cleaning up) someone stole a piece off the wall and bolted out the front door. It was Jason Lee’s one of a kind 8×10 Polaroid of the late Dennis Hopper. The artist is putting up a $25,000 dollar reward to anyone who brings it back to us. This is a very sentimental one of a kind piece for obvious reasons. The thief can come forward anonymously and charges won’t be pressed against him. Please get the word out and help us get Jason’s art back. You can call us 323-747-5301 or email with any information. Thanks.”

Making Music from Archives at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania

Making Music from Archives at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania

Featuring the work of: Andrea Clearfield, Willhem Echevarria, Ted Houghtaling, Max Lawrence & Maurice Wright

This event will feature five artists who each composed original works of music inspired by the collection of Mary Elizabeth Hallock Greenewalt, an eccentric Philadelphia inventor and musician. Greenewalt developed an art form that she called “nourathar,” which uses an organ to display colored light scored to music using her own custom notation system. In order to fulfill her musical pursuits, Greenewalt entered the engineering world and was awarded several patents. In the 1930s, she spent much of her time in court, suing others for patent infringement. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania holds extensive records on Greenewalt’s life.

OFF THE BLANKET – SATURDAY, 12 – 6 here at 1026

In the process of cleaning out the studio I came across a ton of old prints. A lot of them are event posters or old, out-of-print editions that are little muffed up (slight dings in the paper or a small dry spot in the pull). Anyhow, it’s time to thin out the stock so I’ll be selling a bunch of these this Saturday at Space 1026′s annual “Off the Blanket” sale.
Everything is five to twenty bucks – discounts given for buying in bulk.
Here at 1026 Arch Street.
