Soft Comfort Forever Please

“Soft Comfort Forever Please”
Fabric Works by Mark Price

February 3 – 25, 2007
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 3, 8pm-12am

Padlock Gallery
1409 Ellsworth Street
Philadelphia, PA 19146

http://www.markpriceisafactory.com

Mark Price, a member of the Philadelphia based artist collective Space 1026, will be showing a body of hand silk-screen printed fabric works at Padlock Gallery in South Philadelphia during February 2007. Taking the form of stuffed ‘soft-monsters’, quilted blanket, and stretched fabric patchworks Mark will create an over stimulated environment populated with struggle, panic, decay, sickness, and blight by layering and deconstructing his print work over the past three years into a new context as tangible objects of comfort.

Mark Price has self-produced two books completely silkscreen printed by hand. He was the recipient of the Xeric Grant in 2006. He has shown his prints at Foundation Gallery in Chicago, Giant Robot in San Francisco, and Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles. Mark has also shown his work as part of Space 1026 at The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, The Magic Pony in Toronto, and The Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. He is 25 and lives in Philadelphia.

The Padlock Gallery is an ex-living room gallery space housed in a row home in South Philly. It holds monthly art shows for Philly-based artists as well as music events, film screenings, and more. The gallery was started in February 2004. The curator members include Charlie Cottone, Mike Fleming, Alina Josan, Molly McIntyre, and Ted Passon.
