PMG is pleased to present "What's Your Story?" as part of the Free Library of Philadelphia's annual One Book, One Philadelphia program. In honor of featured graphic novel Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, PMG will host a night of zine-making, presentations by notable local zine artists, and a private viewing of the exhibition Etchings: Works on Paper by Isaiah Zagar. Art supplies and locally-brewed beer will be provided; however, participants are encouraged to bring their own interesting art materials and refreshments for their evening of graphic arts in the Garden. Guest zine-artists include Mark Price, publisher of Zine Of The Month, Anni Altshuler and Leah Mackin of Holly Hobby, Jenni Drozdek, Michael Gerkovich, and Gregory Labold.

Admission: $10/Adults, $8/PMG Members

Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Come early to secure your materials and space.

The Print Center is proud to be a partner of Philagrafika 2010, an international festival that celebrates the role of print as a vital force in contemporary art. Set to be one of the largest arts events in the United States, Philagrafika 2010 will showcase the work of more than 300 artists and will unite 88 Philadelphia art institutions, including the five core venues: Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Moore College of Art & Design, Temple Gallery, Tyler School of Art, Temple University along with The Print Center. The Print Center will serve as the hub of Philagrafika 2010's activities.

JANKY is a mega-publication. It’s a package of stuff like a glossy magazine, rough photocopied zines, handprinted photos, a SoundZine of experimental music tracks recorded over the telephone and more. A lot more. Check out the page on kickstarter, watch the video, and hopefully you’ll choose to support the project financially with a pledge (which is essentially a way for you to pre-order it for $19). This is a new crowd-sourcing Internet nerd way to fund cool projects through Amazon.com systems. Janky needs to receive $2500 in pledges by February 13th, 2010 to make this a reality. Yes, you spent $$ at the holidays. But SEND NO MONEY NOW(!) cause you just need to make a pledge and no money gets processed until Feb 13th if full funding is achieved.

Currently, JANKY IS 35% funded! That's just a bit over $880. JANKY will be released publicly at pop-up Zine Fest/Release Parties in my Vanagallery on the West Coast and in art spaces on the East Coast too. JANKY includes the work of over 30 artists from around the country. It's a community and exhibit in publication form. If you can contribute money, please make a pledge. I can't do this alone. Pledges start at $1 for an acknowledgement in a Ruff Cuts Credit pamphlet packaged with Janky, $19 to receive Janky once funded, and really cool stuff like handprinted photos or a Lee Tusman Quilt for higher amounts pledged. Pledging is super-easy and is done right on the kickstarter web page, processed by Amazon.com.

We think there might be a gutter Santa Claus that lives under the street and leaves presents for you when you walk by, either that or Santa Claus is the ghost of a dead pope come to judge you for your sins.

Either way, Santa is one creepy dude.
