All art is a reflection of our society, even work that appears purely ornamental. Art has long been at the forefront of protest and political commentary and has the power to challenge authority in ways that words cannot. Through symbols and expression, art often inspires people to action and builds communities. Governments, institutions, social media platforms continue to censor art because they know it holds power.
