Opening Reception: Friday, January 7th, 7 – 10 pm

SPACE 1026

1026 Arch St. 2nd Floor
Philadelphia, PA 19107

Space 1026 is proud to present the work of Jesse Moynihan and Lance Simmons–drawings, comics and prints from two sequential artists who are attempting “to reclaim our origins from people who want it to be boring”. Included in the exhibition will be original artwork from Jesse’s full-color comic epic Forming, as well as products from Lance’s new publishing and printing micro-company C.G.I (Cartoon Graphics Imaging). “Real pictures of examples of stories and concepts show a real way to see a good image of life.”
Please join us for an opening reception on Friday, January 7th from 7 – 10 pm, featuring a site-specific, interactive, sound-making installation by Simmons.

Jesse Moynihan is a long-time native of West Philadelphia’s music/art scene. His work has appeared in Vice, The Believer, Arthur, and various comic anthologies. His previous comics include Xeric grant winning, the Backwards Folding Mirror, and Follow Me, which was published by Bodega. Jesse spent a majority of 2009 – 2010 serializing the maximalist, sci-fi epic, Forming, which updates once a week at www.jessemoynihan.com. He recently moved to Los Angeles and is working as a board artist on the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time.

Lance Simmons is from Alabama. He lives Kensington. He has a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. He has been making cartoons for a long time

Space 1026 was founded over a decade ago by a handful of artists and tricksters who organize rowdy public events and outrageous installations at their building and at other institutions. At the heart of Space 1026 is a communal screen-printing workshop and gallery space for monthly exhibitions by local and international artists.
