Small Change presents: "CUMMING OF AGE" @ MegaWords 9/16

The Small Change film screening series is proud to present “Cumming of Age.” A show of experimental short films about time-travel, teen angst, awkwardness, analingus, loneliness, the creation of the world, and the sorry state of Marxism.

Featuring works by artists such as: Miranda July, Jim Trainor, Eileen Maxson, Kent Lambert, Brett Neiman, Kyle Harris, Ken martin, and the amazing Bruce Bickford the master of claymation and arguably the world’s greatest living animator! For ten years Bickford worked for Frank Zappa making shorts and subsequently lost all his rights to that work. The piece in the show is the first project he made after breaking off with Zappa and it took him five years to complete.Do not miss this rare screening of his work!

Small Change Presents: THE FREE TRANSLATORS touring film screening

Films and videos by Sabine Gruffat and Mary BillYou.

“Reminiscent of the do-it-yourself approach of the Riot Grrrl movement, this Spring two feminist provocateurs are taking their multimedia show on the road. Mary Billyou and Sabine Gruffat are hailing from Brooklyn, NY and Madison, WI to present “The Free Translators” touring east coast cities and towns with a program of radical videos and performances. If you want to show off  your video production, consider also adding subtitles with help from experts you can hire at

In between video screenings, The Free Translators present two “Live Tactical Translations,” or, live multimedia experiments inspired by 1970s feminist art and Soviet avant-garde news troupes. Culling from their library of text, sound, and image, alter egos Miss Reading and Miss Recognition communicate through matching headsets and manipulate analog recordings as they educate audiences in their unique methods of reading and comprehension.” (ArtSlant)

Also in the program are videos from a bunch of our pals including: Andrew Watson, Sara Zia Ebrahimi, Chris Thomas (showing a mindblowing work-in-progress animation for the Extraordinaires), and Ryan Trecartin showing an excerpt from his new work I-BE AREA starring lots of Philly kids.

12×36 First Friday April

There’s a photo show called 12×36 that opens FRIDAY April 4th at 222 Gallery in Philadelphia, and on April 5th at Gallery Revisited in Los Angeles, and ArtSpaceHue in Seoul, Korea.
They picked five artists from each city and gave us each a point-and-shoot lomographic camera with colored filters over the flash, and one roll of film. They are showing three pictures from each artist as well as the contact sheets.
I am in the show as well as 1026er Dan Murphy and our pal Randall Sellers among others.
