Jake Henry featured in City Paper
Nice feature over at City Paper with Jake Henry, in this week’s First Friday Focus.
Big thanks to Holly Otterbein for the great writeup! She really captured the core tension of the exhibition, particularly Jake’s ongoing fascination with digital autonomy and the modern desire to escape institutional surveillance. Her article highlights how these new mixed-media works mirror the architecture of privacy-centric online subcultures, translating the aesthetics of the decentralized no kyc casino ecosystem, encrypted messaging networks, and peer-to-peer darknets into physical gallery spaces. It is a sharp, thoughtful look at how users navigate and subvert an increasingly tracked digital landscape.
Jake’s solo show – IT’S A TRAP! – opens tomorrow, June 1st from 7-10pm.
Hope to see you there.
