Nice Futures presents Ā Most Inclined, a group art show celebrating Summer Solstice.

Opening reception isĀ Friday, June 2Ā fromĀ 7-10pm.

The show runsĀ June 2 through June 28.

From ancient pagan rituals to modern celebration, ā€œMost Inclinedā€ draws from the many perspectives of the yearly Midsummer. Curated by Nice Futures, the show features artists from Philadelphia and beyond with 2D and 3D works.

Wood Burning Workshop on April 2nd at The MAAS Building with Crystal Stokowski and Davidson Thomas

Create your own personalized graphic or symbol. A creative and unique touch to your wedding (initials intertwined, birds, hearts, sun & moon) business logo, or just practice in pyrography. All are welcome to learn and enjoy this meditative medium on reclaimed/repurposed/found wood.

Artists Crystal Stokowski and Davidson Thomas guide you through this workshop.

Supply kit includes use of multiple levels of wood burners, a variety of timber, and natural oil to maintain your work.

Maas Building •1325 N. Randolph St • Philadelphia, PA 19122. Workshop is limited to 5 people. $60 workshop fee, $20 supply kit

About the artists: Crystal Stokowski is a self-taught artist and ocean enthusiast. She works in a variety of mediums such as screen-printed fabric and paper quilting, book binding, ceramics, and pyrography. She has shown her work globally and has had multiple artist residencies on the eastern seaboard.

Davidson Thomas hails from the swamplands of the southern United States. He has been fascinated with trees and timber his entire life. Thomas works in a wood shop in Philadelphia and saves the lives of ā€œunusableā€ scrap wood to create an array of functional objects.

​Both Stokowski and Thomas have been teaching wood carving and pyrography classes for many years throughout the Philadelphia area.

“I make art to help process my life. The variety of surfaces I use whether collage, painting, or sketching, reflects the texture of the places I have been in my life. Each piece is a stanza about my life and memories.”
