222 Vine Street, Philadelphia PA 19106open mon – fri 12-5, or by appointment
Nick Paparone (formerly of Black Floor gallery) and Luren Jenison, members of the new Copy Gallery bring selected works from the once controversial, long forgotten and recently reconstituted collective – the Golden Brick to the 222gallery. The art world has seen more than its share of pranksters, acts of audacity and out-and-out hoaxes but none more fascinating than these artists. Loosely organized and fluctuating in participation between 15 and 20 Los Angeles-based artists, Golden Brick is best known for their artistic plagiarism. The mysterious group was a sudden but intense flash in the art-world pan.
As much rip-off as homage, their creations borrow the materials and language of artists both newly emerging and widely known. Many of their peers were becoming famous through their exposure in the highly charged Whitney Biennial of 1993, which served as a significant touchstone for the Golden Brick. They also refer to more established artists such as Ed Ruscha and Mike Kelley. The group was boosted into the spotlight with the self-published

JUNGLELAND
MATT LEINES WILLIAM BUZZELL ALEX LUKAS JOE BUZZELLJungleland is an exhibition of paintings, drawings, sculpture and site-specific installations by artists MATT LEINES, WILLIAM BUZZELL, ALEX LUKAS, JOE BUZZELL . The four friends use themesfrom the seminal Bruce Springsteen song “Jungleland” to present their uniqueartistic visions. Psychedelic imagery, post apocalyptic landscapes, vignettes of teenage rebellion, and scenes of mythical gods come together tocreate a one of a kind world that can only be experienced down InJungleland. The show opens April 6th and runs through April 27th, theopening party is Friday, April 6th.Space 1026 is excited to host these four artists in Philadelphia. With his crisp, meticulous pen and ink and lush, multilayered watercolor, Matt Leines initiates us into the geometry of the future. Through a secret society of humanoid creatures, anthropomorphized nature and mythological adornmentLeines reveals a depth of feeling in his at times confrontational drawings. Using house paint & shoe dye on plastic tarps, found wood & scrap metal,William Buzzells’ work continues his exploration into the themes ofpatriotism, race, heritage, class and the shaping of identity in the modernworld. William is a member of the Philadelphia art collective, Space 1026.www.williambuzzell.comAlex Lukas’ drawings and sculptures depict destruction, desolation and thehypnotic power of smoke in the wake of an un-specified disaster.www.alexlukas.com Joe Buzzell’s artwork loiters outside an Exxon gasstation at the cross section of Sacred Geometry and Fake Puke, smokingcigarettes and eating shitty hot dogs.

PILOT TV: EVERY BODY MOVES AGAINST CONTROL
PILOT TV: EVERY BODY MOVES AGAINST CONTROL
For four days in October of 2004, over 200 artists and activists from across North America descended upon Chicago to collaboratively produce television shows, performances, interventions, documentaries, workshops, and lectures. Responding to the concept of ‘feminist trespass,’ Piloteers performed and engaged audiences across queer, feminist, artistic, racial and other political borders to collectively build and define new visibilities. Over 35 ‘TV pilots’ were made at this convergence.
This show is a collection of some of those “TV Pilots” which will be presented by pilot organizers: Dylan Mira and Latham Zearfross.
